15th Annual mid-season Senior Showdown

There are changes to our annual charity event.  This season it is optional for all BWI - Senior League teams to enter.  Although it should be a great event to be part of.  We have early indications that the Red Sox, Yankees and Cubs from the Mississauga Mens League and the Vaughan Expos are returning and bringing the Brooklin Dodgers along with them from the OSBL.

The date of the tournament is JULY 22-24 although we might use July 21 to schedule local teams. OPEN TO ALL SENIOR A OR B TEAMS!

Wood bat optional. Everyone bats and unlimited substitution.

Cost is $450 for a 3-game guarantee, $100 deposit required to secure spot in tournament. Remainder to be paid by June 1.

Final BQ or OBA approved rosters required latest July 7. Maximum 16 teams accepted. Cash prizes to finalists; amount to be determined depending on number of teams participating.

The Victoriaville Laurier, a team in the Quebec City Major Senior Baseball League, has created is first ever baseball tournament. The tournament will be held July 14th to 17th, 2011. Victoriaville is located right between Montreal and Quebec City. It's a small town, approx. 40,000 citizens. It would be great to have some teams from Ontario, that will make our tournament an national one. The province of Quebec has around 10 23+ years old, adult leagues, which compare to the Peterborough teams (the Laurier team has played in the annual Peterbourough tournament). We hope to welcome 16 teams, placed in 4 pools of 4 teams. Each team will play 3 preliminary games. The first two positions of each pool will go to the quarterfinals. Preliminary games will be 5 innings, and championship round games will be 7 innings. We will use 2 fields for the tournament, they are like 2 miles away from each other. The main field, which is getting builT up as we speak, will be 320' feet on the side, 350' in center field. The other field is a bit smaller, 310' on the side, 340' in the center field. We will apply MLB rules, which means 9-player batter order and you can use (or not) a DH for the pitcher only. No re-entry for the players, except in case of injury. The entry fees for the tournament is 425$ (canadian funds). The winner of the tournament will get 1,200$, and the runner-up 600$. To reserve a spot in the tournament, we ask the team to send a 225$ deposit. The balance (200$) is needed right before the first game. If anyone is interested, they can contact me by email, I will send any information they need. I hope I will get some interested teams from Ottawa. The ONTARIO SENIOR BASEBALL ASSOCIATION is proud to announce the dates for it's 7th annual tournament.
The date of the tournament will be the weekend of July 2nd to 4th.
The tournament will be held in the Durham Region, with diamonds in Whitby, Oshawa and Clarington
The OSBA tournament will be a "WOOD BAT ONLY" tournament. If needed we can help team with deals on wood bats from dealers in our area.
The tournament format will be the same as in years past, with each team guaranteed 3 games in a round robin format. As we do every year we will be looking for teams who are willing to play their first game on the Friday night. As well this year we would like to know if there are any teams who might be interested in playing on the Friday afternoon of July 2nd. Our thought is that with Canada Day being the day before there may be some teams that will be available since their players might have the Friday off work as well.
We will be accepting 12 teams and 8 of those teams will move on to the playoff rounds. We are hoping to increase it to 16 teams should we be able to secure another diamond.
Cost of the tournament will be $450.00. All cheques are to be made out to "Ontario Senior Baseball Association"
A deposit of $100 is required to secure your spot in the tournament. The remaining $350 must be paid by June 15th, 2010.
A registration form is attached, as is a roster form.
ALL TOURNAMENT QUESTIONS should be forwarded to Tournament Convenor Rod Holinaty at r.holinaty@sympatico.ca
