Brewers 2 Cardinals 1

This game was filled with missed chances by both sides. Clutch hits were at a premium. Dave Burke for the Cardinals duelled with Mike Gingerich and Mike Gazo of the Brewers with the game being decided on the last pitch. The Brewers set the tone for the game by loading the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the first with walks and an infield hit, but couldn't score any runs as Burke got out of the jam. The Brewers managed to get on the board in the second with an RBI single from Joe Beelen, scoring Keith Blouin. The Cardinals answered right back though in the third with an RBI single by Burke to score Marc Landry who had hit a double.

After that the pitchers took over...Mike Gazo relieved Gingerich to start the 4th and went on to only allow 3 hits the rest of the way, while Burke continued to shut down the Brewers.

Both teams had a couple chances but couldn't get any clutch hits...until the seventh...the Brewers loaded the bases with one out courtesy of a couple Cardinals errors and a single....the Cardinals got the second out on a pop-up and looked like they'd get out of another jam, but Mark Keenan then lined a single to right field to score Nick Lenarden and win the game.

Player of the Game: Burke, Cardinals....6.66IP, 6 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, 3 strike outs plus batting 2/3 with 1 RBI.
