In an early season battle between these 2 long time rivals, again just 1 run separated the 2 teams in the end. Kanata took advantage early of Brewers starter Matt Beelen's wildness. After walking the bases loaded in the 1st, Derek Howe hit a bloop single for 2 runs and a 2-0 lead. Then in the 2nd, an RBI groundout by Mike Watters made it 3-0. Meanwhile, Kanata starter Brennan McKay pitched 3 scoreless innings with his only trouble coming in the 1st when he stranded 2 base runners. The Brewers finally broke through versus reliever Mike Kusiewicz with 1 un-earned run in the 4th and then 2 runs in the 5th on RBI groundouts by Joe Beelen and Keith Blouin. Kanata continued to put up runs as well, scoring 2 runs in the 4th on RBI singles by Watters and Cam Pelton but leaving the bases loaded. After scoring 1 un-earned run in the 5th on another RBI single by Watters, the Brewers put up 1 run in each the 6th and 7th but could not score any more off Howe, who got the save in a 6-5 victory for Kanata.
