In the season opener for both teams, the story of the game was Brewer pitcher Adam Oattes.  He started his season by striking out the first 8 batters and had 11 K's through 4 innings. Oattes finished with a 5 hit shut out with 16 K's. Meanwhile, the Brewers bats were able to squeeze some runs across against Braves starter Steve Gilroy with the help of a number of bloops, infield singles and fortunate bounces.  Led by 3 RBI from rookie Mark Charette, 2 RBI from Matt Beelen and a 2 for 3 evening for Sean Lecuyer with a stolen base, the Brewers scored 7 runs to give Oattes a comfortable cushion to work with.  Steph Ouellette came in to pitch the last 2 innings for the Braves and sat down all 6 batters he faced.
